Genet Tsegay crowned Miss Ethiopia 2012

In an event organized by Ethiopian Village at Radisson Blu Hotel in Addis Ababa, a 21-year-old third year architecture student Genet Tsegay was voted Miss Ethiopia 2012. The judging panel consists of the famous musician Chachi Tadesse, Getu Temesegen, George Fil, Yohanese Mezegebe and a well-known professor from Addis Ababa University Dr. Constantinos Berehe. There were 16 contestants in the event that was done in three rounds to have top 10, top 5 and finally top 3 winners.

The second runner-up is 21-year-old Hinom Wondimu who is also a student with part-time activities in acting. She wants to drive her career towards modeling and acting business.

The third runner-up was a 20-year-old Hiwote Dinkalem who is also a second year student of Business Administration and Information Systems. She plans to pursue a carrer in modeling and business. She stated that, “If I become Miss Ethiopia, I would like to help women, and especially sex workers, to get more education and skills and make a better living.”
