Prime minister Meles Zenawi who ruled Ethiopia over the past 21 years has passed away in a Brussels hospital. The official news report from the government reported that the prime minister was under medical care after suffering from exhaustion and finally passed away after complications which resulted from infections. The country announced a mourning period until the end of his funeral procession.
The day was marked as a sad day and many Ethiopians expressed their condolences for the death of the premier. Though his 21 year rule was marred by a number of serious human right violations, the country seemed to have chosen to focus on his positive contribution as it deeply mourns the loss.
